At a young age, Mary experienced a stillbirth.
“I’ll never forget her,” she says.
“It’s been fifty years– especially on her birthday.”
Soon after losing her baby, Mary and her husband moved down to the Chicagoland area, where she found herself looking for a job as a nurse. The hospital she walked into had an opening in the newborn nursery and she accepted the position.
“All that love that I had for my baby that I couldn’t give– I had all those babies in the nursery, and I gave them so much love and it was wonderful.”
Mary’s work and experience as a newborn nurse inspired her to fight for life. Currently, Mary works at A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Center in Maryville, Illinois as the Nurse Manager.
Mary not only fights for the lives of the preborn, but she also seeks to give hope and resources to women facing unplanned pregnancies.
