Governor Pritzker has been forthcoming and direct in his desire to make Illinois the “abortion capital” of the United States.
In July of this year, Pritzker signed the Birth Equity Act (HB 5142) into law, which mandates insurance companies in Illinois cover the cost of abortion without any deductibles, extra costs, or copays.
In the state of Illinois, you can kill your baby at any point, for any reason, and with no added impact to your wallet.
In January of last year, Governor Pritzker signed HB 4664 into law, which protects healthcare providers and abortion seekers from legal attacks by neighboring states when out-of-state women travel to Illinois for abortions. The press release reported:
“The bill takes historic action to protect Illinois providers and their patients, thousands of whom have traveled to Illinois to access essential reproductive health care now banned in their home states.”
Governor Pritzker, in his speech applauding the addition of this bill to Illinois law, commented,
“Last summer, when Roe v. Wade was overturned, I made a promise that Illinois would remain a beacon of hope and an island for reproductive justice for all who seek it. This bill fulfills that promise.”
We, as pro-lifers, would like to think (or hope) that the only type of abortion access spreading in Illinois is happening through the state legislature, where we as citizens have the opportunity to make our voices heard and vote for pro-life candidates.
Yet, the truth is that the spread of abortion access in the state of Illinois is far more sinister than many could have thought or imagined.
Chicago Business recently reported that Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) has directly partnered with Hey Jane, a virtual reproductive care provider, to expand abortion access in the state of Illinois.
Hey Jane and Planned Parenthood’s press release noted,
“Planned Parenthood is now welcoming Hey Jane patients who qualify for procedural abortion, while Planned Parenthood patients can turn to Hey Jane for telemedicine abortion care, including medication abortion…
Medication abortion can be prescribed by certified medical professionals through telehealth visits in which a patient can have pills mailed to an Illinois address or can pick them up at a Planned Parenthood health center.”
In addition to CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens selling the abortion pill, now abortion-seekers do not even have to leave the comfort of their own homes to have the abortion pill prescribed and mailed to them.
Jennifer Welch, president and CEO of PPIL, commented in a press release,
“Since Roe was overturned in 2022, Planned Parenthood of Illinois’ top priority has been to expand patient access in Illinois, which is why I am thrilled we are partnering with Hey Jane…
We understand how important it is for people to have abortion access. Hey Jane is a reliable, efficient and confidential medication abortion service that provides the quality health care people have come to expect from PPIL. This partnership means easier access to the abortion care people need and deserve.”
Emily Glover, Vice President of Patient Services for PPIL, noted in an interview,
“Since Dobbs, we’ve seen a 47% increase in abortion care, with patients coming to us from more than 40 other states.”
The expansion of abortion access through PPIL’s partnership with Hey Jane will bring even more devastation and bloodshed to the state of Illinois.
The state legislature and Pritzker, through the passage of HB 5142 and HB 4664, have ensured that out-of-state abortion seekers are legally protected and that abortion is as affordable as possible under Illinois insurance.
Now, with this partnership with Hey Jane, abortion seekers can obtain the abortion pill without the hassle of travel or wait time. How convenient.
Proverbs 6:16-18 says,
“There are six things which Yahweh hates, Even seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked thoughts, Feet that hasten to run to evil,…” (LSB, emphasis mine)
How true this is of Planned Parenthood of Illinois, Hey Jane, Governor Pritzker, and the Illinois State Legislature.
They are quick to shed the innocent blood of preborn children in the womb. Their hearts devise wicked thoughts of how to make the murder of children in Illinois more accessible, easier, and cheaper. Their feet hasten to evil agendas and demonic blood-money partnerships.
Christians, we must pray for God’s mercy upon our state.
Pray for His intervention in the lives of those seeking abortion. Pray for the repentance of all those who are involved in this evil partnership. Pray for the protection of innocent life.
Our prayer is Proverbs 24:11:
“Deliver those who are being taken away to death, And those who are stumbling to the slaughter, Oh hold them back.”
